For those who don’t know, Friendship Circle
is an organization that helps kids and teens who have special needs. Specifically, the organization teaches these
kids real world skills so that they can interact in various social
settings. A majority of the work that is
going on at Friendship Circle right now is in preparation of the end of the
year event. This is a large event that
recognizes the work and dedication of the volunteers at Friendship Circle. During the early days of my project I have
had various odd jobs revolving around organizing this event. Everything from designing centerpieces to
making sure all the volunteer certificates have come my way. Other than helping plan for this main event,
I have been shadowing Rabbi Yossi, the executive director of the
organization. He, along with putting a
lot of time and effort into this final event, also does one on one study sessions,
which I have sat in one, where we discuss Jewish teachings. This are very interesting and look at the
world in ways that I have never before done.
